OFF TO A FLYING START

First blog post in ages as I have just not had the time to do one with so much going on.

First up, as it is chocolate egg season, a quick update on the Easter opening hours.

The shop is open as normal at other times than those listed below.

Good Friday 15 April - Closed

Easter Saturday 16 April 8am - 4pm

Easter Sunday 17 April - Closed

Bank Holiday Monday 18 April - Closed

Tuesday April 19 onwards return to normal hours.

Online ordering is operating as normal.

So what has been happening!

The winter season was as usual dominated by the CWICS series for the shop, but that ended a few weeks back, even though it feels like it was a lifetime ago, so we will skip that!

Most recently the team were in action at the first round of the Iconic Cup at Mendip Raceway both racing and running the trackside shop just this last weekend.

We had an overall fantastic performance from the team, both on track and helping in the shop.

Jay dominated the front wheel drive class (whilst constantly telling everyone about his painted shut lines on his escort body). Leading from the very beginning of the day until the end. He was as usual invaluable in the shop, helping out when I was racing or busy and keeping us fed.

Adam, brave as ever did 2 classes - M-Chassis and GT.

M-Chassis didn't go all his own way, as the young gun "Jack" from Frome club was very very quick all day and took the win with Adam coming in 2nd. Adam dominated the GT final though with his TRF415. Finishing nearly a lap up after one of his usual immaculate, faultless drives (we think he is really a robot).

Myself. well I had one of my best Iconic Cup results. I knew the car was good in stock from the previous year and it showed this in Saturday practise. Qualifying was one of the hardest sets of runs I have ever done, thanks to constant pressure from the Phat Bodies boys.

Simon pressured me most of the day, but I just managed to snag 2nd on the grid in the Stock A final behind a faultless drive from Steve Landers on pole.

A good start gave me a steady run behind Steve, but with Dan (Phat) catching me several times with a much quicker car, then dropping back. He finally manged to get by shortly before the end of the race. There was one opportunity to throw it up the inside at the end of the straight, but with the notorious Mendip bump on the sweeper, I thought better of it and settled for 3rd.

I am very proud of Jay and Adam for the way they raced, but also the way they help people out off track, which is just as important as being fast.

It was also great to see so many of the main shops regulars either racing at the event or popping down to watch.

Next up is a few days off over Easter and then get ready for the next Iconic Cup round at West London in just under a months time.

Hopefully we will see you there.

Adie, well done on a cracking performance at Mendip. Keep it up at West London!
