Revival 2021 is in the books and done. A full on weekend of hard work in the shop and fun on the track. We have to say a heartfelt thanks to John Weston and the team at BMR for having us. The weather made life a challenge at times, with downpours on Friday and odd showers the rest of the weekend. This meant grip and tyre choice changed constantly, meaning the shop was flat out with tyres sales.
We also have to say a huge thanks to Steve Bains of AutoTecnic Altrincham for supplying the £250 golden ticket vouchers for each day of the event. The lucky winners are pictured below
(to prove to their wives they won, not bought there goodies).
I also have to say a massive thanks and big hugs to my better half Di. Who although has no RC knowledge bar what she picks up as she goes along, worked all weekend in the trackside shop like a trooper.
The racing. Well not a bad weekend at all. The SRB Sand Scorcher was a bit of a peach to drive. Previous issues with the ball diff and front suspensions lack of desire to stay on the car had been resolved. One small problem with the servo saver, rapidly solved with super glue and otherwise all good for an old girl. Placed 2nd in stock class after some very close racing, so very happy with that indeed.
The Avante was a different matter. It was very nice to drive, but felt slow (I was racing with Boothy), and liked to turn itself back into a kit at every opportunity. Only major breakage was a front gearbox housing, but that meant an entire front end rebuild trackside, which was a big job. Bent rear links meant it only made it to the end of quali and the CAT came out for the final. However. The Avante did bag the "Icon of the say" award, so all good and it is forgiven. A little more prep time before we do Revival 2 at Broxtowe in little over a month is in order.
Our next event is Iconic Cup at WLRC in 2 weeks, so the main shop will be closed on Saturday 14th August for the day. Online orders are unaffected.
